Connect Your Own Email

Every email a candidate gets comes from you. Link your own Gmail — Outlook coming soon — so automated and manual outreach sends from your real address.

What it is

A shared sender address is a tell. Link your own inbox and every candidate email looks like it came from you — because it did.

Recruiters connect their own Gmail account in a few clicks — Outlook is on the way. Once connected, automated sequences and manual outreach send from that real address instead of a shared system sender, with the same open/click/reply tracking and opt-out handling you already rely on. Disconnect anytime; if Google access is revoked, ATS Mako flags it instead of silently failing.

Why recruiters care

  • Candidates see your real name and address, not a shared no-reply sender.
  • Replies land in a place you actually check — no missed conversations.
  • One-click OAuth connect. No app passwords, no IT ticket.
  • Disconnect anytime; nothing changes for candidates you've already messaged.

Why HR leaders care

  • Personal sender addresses tend to land in the inbox, not spam — better deliverability across the team.
  • Every recruiter's outreach still runs through the same sequences, tracking, and opt-out handling.
  • Per-recruiter connection, gated by permission — leadership controls who can turn it on.
  • Revoked or expired access is surfaced, not silently swallowed.
Before & after

From busywork to a hiring engine.

The old way

  • Every automated email comes from one shared, generic sender address.
  • Candidates reply to a system inbox nobody personally monitors.
  • Recruiters manually BCC themselves or forward replies to keep track.

With ATS Mako

  • Emails send from each recruiter's own connected Gmail address.
  • Replies land directly in the recruiter's real inbox.
  • Sequences, tracking, and opt-out handling work exactly the same underneath.
Capabilities

Everything in Connect Your Own Email.

One-click Gmail connect

Recruiters link their Google account via OAuth in a few clicks — no app passwords, no manual SMTP setup.

Send-as-you

Automated sequences and manual outreach send from the recruiter's own connected address instead of a shared sender.

Outlook (coming soon)

Microsoft/Outlook connection is in progress, using the same OAuth-based connect flow as Gmail.

Disconnect anytime

Recruiters can unlink their account at any time; connection status and revoked access are surfaced clearly, not hidden.

Tracking stays intact

Open, click, and reply tracking and opt-out handling work the same whether email sends from a shared sender or a connected personal address.

Permission-gated rollout

Admins control which recruiters can connect their own email, so rollout stays deliberate rather than automatic.

FAQ

Connect Your Own Email FAQ

Which email providers can I connect?

Gmail is live today. Outlook/Microsoft 365 connection is coming soon, using the same OAuth-based connect flow.

Do I need my IT team to set this up?

No. Connecting Gmail is a one-click OAuth flow from your account settings — no app passwords or SMTP configuration required.

What happens to tracking and automations once I connect my own email?

Nothing changes underneath — sequences, open/click/reply tracking, and opt-out handling all keep working the same way, just sent from your real address.

Can I disconnect my email later?

Yes, anytime. If Google access is revoked or expires, ATS Mako surfaces that so you know to reconnect rather than silently falling back.

Does every recruiter get this automatically?

No. It's gated by permission, so admins decide which recruiters can connect their own inbox.
