Job Board Aggregator

A service that collects job postings from many individual job boards and career sites into one searchable listing, rather than a single standalone board.

How it works

A job board aggregator collects job postings from many individual job boards and career sites into a single searchable listing, rather than being one standalone board a job seeker has to visit directly.

An aggregator typically pulls postings automatically from many source sites (or from direct employer feeds) and republishes them in its own searchable index, so a job seeker searching the aggregator sees results originally posted across dozens of different underlying boards and company career pages in one place. For an employer, this means a single posting can end up surfaced across a much wider set of candidate searches than the one board it was originally placed on, depending on whether that original board or the employer's feed is connected to the aggregator.

Worked example

One posting, wider reach

A company posts a warehouse-associate role directly to its own careers page and to one regional job board. Because both of those sources feed into a major aggregator, the same single posting also becomes discoverable to job seekers searching the aggregator directly — reaching a meaningfully larger pool of potential applicants than either original source would have on its own, without the company doing any additional posting work.

In staffing & high-volume hiring

For a company posting a role, aggregators change how far a single posting travels — the same listing can surface across a much wider set of job seekers' searches than posting to one board alone would reach. It also means job postings need to be structured cleanly (clear title, location, requirements) since an aggregator is often reading and re-displaying that data automatically, not just linking to it.

Common mistakes

  • Writing a job posting with vague or unusual formatting that an aggregator's automated parsing handles poorly, reducing how well it surfaces in aggregator search results.
  • Assuming a posting on one job board automatically reaches every aggregator, when reach depends on which specific sources actually feed into that aggregator.
  • Not tracking which aggregators applicants are actually coming through, losing visibility into which indirect channels are contributing real hires.
FAQ

Job Board Aggregator FAQ

Do I need to post separately to each job board an aggregator pulls from?

It depends on the aggregator — some pull postings automatically from connected sources, while others require a direct feed or posting integration. Either way, the aggregator itself isn't where the original posting lives; it's surfacing postings that exist elsewhere.

Why does posting format matter for aggregator visibility?

Aggregators often parse and re-display posting data automatically (title, location, requirements) rather than just linking through — a clearly structured posting is more likely to be parsed correctly and surfaced well in aggregator search results.

Can source of hire tracking distinguish an aggregator from the original job board?

It can, if the tracking is set up to capture referral data at the point of application — otherwise a hire that came through an aggregator pulling from an original board may get credited to whichever source's tracking link the candidate actually clicked.
